Genuinely Life-Changing Results and Outstanding Care — My Hair Transplant at Paradigm (May 2024)
Summary:
I had a FUE hair transplant at Paradigm Clinic in May 2024. The whole process — from consultation to follow-ups — exceeded my expectations. Brendan and his team were professional, attentive, and reassuring throughout. The main thing - 14 months down the line and the result is better than I had hoped for, and the boost in confidence is incredible.
Journey:
A hair transplant is not something I ever thought I would do. I had always had a thick head of hair, but by 30 the crown was thinning, and by 35 the front started to get ‘patchy’ as well - until ultimately I had to make a decision to make at 40 – shave it off because no haircut made sense anymore with the patchy balding, or get a hair transplant. After discussing it with my wife, I decided to get a transplant.
I researched several clinics and surgeons around the UK before making a decision as to where to go for my transplant. It was clear the FUE process could be successful, having seen it work on sports and TV personalities – but I had to ensure that I would only do this if it was highest quality. I quickly ruled out the Turkey/travel route, as I needed to be 100% certain I was in the best hands. Hair transplants are expensive, and I had to plan a week or 2 of recovery around my work schedule (and explain why I now had a very short haircut round the back and sides) – and I wasn’t going to do all of this just to do it on the cheap and end up with a potentially bad result. Or have an unrealistic hairline that I never had even when I was18.
Paradigm stood out for their straightforward communication and Brendan’s CV. My consultation with Brendan was the key factor though: he listened, assessed my hair and donor area carefully, and laid out realistic expectations rather than promising instant perfection. That honest, patient-centered approach made me feel comfortable moving forward. Brendan explained how a hair transplant is successful, and importantly why it isn’t successful – and he wasn’t trying to sell me the hairline of myself at 18. It was sensible, serious, and friendly - exactly what I was looking for. Brendan explained the likely outcome for my hair characteristics and how a transplant would be planned to create a natural-looking hairline and improve density in the targeted areas in the front. He discussed the usual timeline — initial shedding, gradual regrowth, and when to expect visible improvement — and walked me through potential risks and aftercare. Booking and pre-op communications from the clinic were clear and well organized. They provided step-by-step instructions for the days before the procedure, which helped me arrive prepared and calm.
On the day the treatment room was spotless and comfortable. Brendan and team’s demeanour throughout the day was calm, confident and personable; he explained what he was doing as he went, which really helped with nerves. They were professional but friendly, and frequently checked on my comfort. There was a little bit of discomfort at times, but overall the process was exactly as described. Leaving the clinic I felt well looked after and confident in the care I’d received. The professionalism, attentive communication, and calming atmosphere made the day much easier than I anticipated.
The aftercare was a bit annoying, my head was itchy and I was counting the days until I could wash my hair as normal again - however in the grand scheme of things this isn't much to put up with for a full head of hair after balding for years. In following the instructions Brendan provided to the letter, everything happened as explained - within the timeframes explained my hair began shedding, then growing back, and growing more, and finally ending up a thick head of hair again.
My Advice:
If you’re thinking about FUE, I’d strongly recommend speaking to Brendan. And I would recommend doing it as soon as you are thinking about it, and not waiting for a year or more because of nerves like me. For a man a hair transplant still is a little taboo. Besides my wife and my parents I haven’t told anyone about mine. However, I think it says it all that I am now thinking about a second (final) FUE process for my thinning crown – something that I discussed with Brendan back during my initial consultation. At the time I remember laughing saying ‘this is something I’ll only do once, and I’m ok with the crown staying thin, as people mostly see the front anyway.’ But now that I know how the process works, and how I have a guarantee of quality with Paradigm, it’s opened the door to completely fixing my hairline for good. It's a relief knowing that there is a reliable and highest quality place like Paradigm to help people - this is life changing stuff for people who are affected by hair loss - and it's clear that Brendan and the Paradigm team know this.
